Angeli is a Corporate Partner, with nearly 20 years of experience in private equity, M&A, financial restructurings, investor actions, complex business disputes and corporate governance. Angeli has spent time working in Europe, Asia (establishing and overseeing the Hong Kong office of a US law firm) and Africa (as Africa regional leader of private equity for a large international law firm).
Angeli acts as trusted advisor to prominent financial institutions on a wide range of investment strategies. At one end of the investment spectrum, Angeli has a long history of working with high profile activist investors. Having acted on several pioneering, ground-breaking investor actions in different markets, she has a deep understanding of how activist tactics have developed around the world over time. Angeli also acts for a number of private equity funds, having completed private equity transactions in at least 50 jurisdictions. At the other end of the investment spectrum, Angeli works on impact investments, having developed legal strategies to support and promote such investments during her time in Africa (as featured in the Forbes Africa, Private Equity Supplement, November 2020).
Angeli is ranked in various legal journals, including Legal 500, Who's Who Legal and Best Lawyers, with awards including Partner of the Year (female): Highly Commended at the African Legal Awards, 2020. She has also been listed in The Lawyer's Hot 100 2023.
Angeli serves as a governor of the International School of Cape Town. As an advocate for gender equality, Angeli launched a joint report with the UK Law Society and Women in Law South Africa on the findings from South Africa's women in leadership in law roundtables (Women in Law report: findings from South Africa’s women in leadership in law roundtables | The Law Society).

- Private equity transactions include investments in Vmobile (Nigeria); MWB Group Holdings; Catenae Innovation; one of the largest European leisure centre chains; a leading European ATM provider, Avianca (Columbia’s national airline) and Avacare Health.
- Advising Oracle Corporation, Boston Scientific and Sumitomo Precision Products on cross-border M&A deals (acquisitions, joint ventures and divestitures).
- Acting on the corporate law aspects of: (i) the asset sales of the collapsed Icelandic banks; (ii) the administration and asset/business sales of Connaught plc; (iii) the restructurings of the Quinn Group (€1.2 billion restructuring); (iv) Energis plc (in excess of £1 billion restructuring); and (v) the Dometic Group.
- Advising one of the most prominent activist global hedge funds (multi-billion dollar AUM) on a high-profile legal battle in relation to their defaulting investment in one of the largest state-owned entities in Vietnam; a legal battle with a government in Asia relating to a major government-backed infrastructure project; and a high-profile proxy battle in respect of one of the largest companies in New Zealand.
