Taking care of the things that matter in our clients' lives.

We understand how to serve private individuals and families in a modern world, to shape their lives and maximise their role in the new global economy.

Along with the Innovation Economy and Real Estate, Private Wealth & Capital is one of our three strategic sectors. Their purpose? So, we are better aligned to our clients’ converging agendas, and they can thrive in this era of transformation.

For our clients and their businesses, this means being able to go wherever we are needed, off the back of our strong and established bases in the UK, the Middle East and Asia. Such global reach means we are adept at stewarding muti-jurisdictional disputes and understand the complexity of cross-border structures. Likewise, our advisory practices in tax, immigration and philanthropy are genuinely global.

With global reach comes holistic understanding. Nowhere do business and personal lives collide more than in the world of private wealth. We assess a client’s needs  from every viewpoint – legal, technical, strategic, personal and emotional.

The latter two are especially important. We know that private personal concerns can go far beyond the purely financial: family relationships, family issues, reputation, their homes, the things they love, the small matters of legacy and personal impact. It calls for empathy and sensitivity as much as deep legal knowledge.

When required, we work closely with our family office consultancy (MDR Mayfair) and colleagues elsewhere in the firm to shape practical bespoke advice that’s right for each client. This might be a liquidity event, succession planning, or the establishment of a family office; areas where our blend of insight and the ability to resolve issues with tact, discretion and minimum fuss are particularly valued.

Our two other strategic sectors combine to complete the connected 360-degree approach. With wealth increasingly concentrated in private hands, private capital plays an increasingly active role in funding innovation and shaping new industries. Our Innovation Economy expertise is ideally placed to provide connections and advise clients in this space. Real Estate has long been a favourite of Private Wealth.

Just two examples of the three sectors combining for our clients’ benefit, and why we provide highest quality legal services for Private Wealth & Capital.

  • A guide to safeguarding your business against Greenwashing risks

Greenwashing, the practice of overstating the environmental benefits of products or practices, poses a significant challenge to achieving genuine sustainability.   Alarmingly prevalent, a recent Which? study revealed that 84% of 1,000 products with green claims in the UK failed to meet at least one principle of the UK Green Claims Code. Whether intentional or accidental, the repercussions of greenwashing are severe: reputational damage, hindered progress towards sustainability, and potential legal liabilities.
