James is an Associate in the Real Estate department, specialising in contentious and non-contentious construction law. He represents building owners, developers, purchasers, funders and tenants as well as consultants, contractors and sub-contractors.
On the non-contentious side, he advises clients on procurement matters and on consultants' appointments, building contracts, sub-contracts, novation agreements, warranties, bonds, guarantees and letters of intent. James assists with drafting and negotiation as required. He also advises clients on any issues that may arise during the course of projects. On the contentious side, James handles disputes for clients, seeking to resolve them by settlement if possible, otherwise by mediation, adjudication, litigation or arbitration as appropriate. He is a member of the Society for Construction Law.
Key Experience
- Assisting Delancey and Qatari Diar (QDD) on the multi-million pound development of the East Village, the former Olympic Village in Stratford. The development will deliver 2,000 PRS homes, as well as retail and leisure facilities, public squares and open space across six plots: advising on construction matters concerning the development and putting in place the necessary construction contracts and other documents for it.
- Assisting Consolidated Developments Limited on St Giles Circus, a substantial 185,000 sq ft mixed-use development above the new Crossrail station at Tottenham Court Road, forming part of the wider £1 billion Tottenham Court Road regeneration project: advising on construction matters concerning the development and putting in place the necessary construction contracts and other documents for it.
