Personal Profile

Humam is a litigator in the Private department. He advises clients on all aspects of reputation protection, including defamation, breach of confidence, privacy, data and harassment issues. Humam also acts for international clients in a range of complex, often multi-jurisdictional, disputes.

Before qualifying into the Private department, Humam gained experience in the Corporate, Fraud, and Intellectual Property departments at Mishcon de Reya.

Key Experience

  • Acting for a prominent businessman to enforce a settlement agreement in the Court of Appeal against a newspaper which was subjecting him to anti-Semitic abuse and other defamatory allegations.
  • Acting for a state-owned oil company in a claim relating to a largescale fraud perpetrated against it by various multinational oil corporations and traders.
  • Acting for a politician in a dispute with his party.
  • Acting for a member of a royal family in a dispute with a former advisor.
  • Acting for an employer in a claim against an ex-employee and his new employer for theft of confidential information, including obtaining injunctive relief.
  • Acting for a high-profile philanthropist and a wealth management company in complex and high value proceedings in the High Court.
  • Preparing a submission to a consultation by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport analysing the potential impact of section 40 of the Crime and Courts Act 2013 (passed following the Leveson Inquiry) and its compatibility with Articles 6 and 10 of the Human Rights Act 1998.
  • Acting for various clients in reputation disputes with media organisations, former partners, and other opponents.
