    In 2008, Vanessa started the networking site: www.wearethecity.com, as a vehicle to help other City Women connect and grow professionally and personally. WeAreTheCity experiences over 4 million hits per month and an average of 260,000 unique visitors. Today, WATC has become the Little Black Book for London’s female workforce. Its’ 30,000+ members rely on WATC for information ranging from professional to personal to connect with others or to access interests that are centric to working in the City. Vanessa also recently created www.careerscity.co.uk, which is a niche female job board aimed at raising visibility of the opportunities open to Women in terms of their careers.

  • James Averdieck

    Born in Yorkshire in 1965, James was educated at Uppingham School before studying Economics at Durham University from 1985 to 1988. At Durham, James set up his first business, a Direct sales shoes, sourcing from quality UK manufacturers and selling on dealing floors in the City of London. After leaving university, James joined the graduate programme at strategy consultants, Arthur D. Little, where he stayed for two years, working in Europe, US and the Middle East. He enjoyed consulting and learnt about the key drivers to a successful business, but wanted to get closer to the coal-face.

  • Rupert Gavin

    Rupert Gavin is CEO of the Odeon Cinema Group, the largest cinema group in Europe. Prior to that he was head of BBC Worldwide. Rupert started life as a Hollywood script writer, before later a Director of Saatchi & Saatchi after they bought his advertising business in 1985 and served until 1987 within its Dorland Agency, during which time it grew to become the UK's third largest agency.

    Sally Greene is an entrepreneur in the entertainment and arts field. Her career began when she bought the lease of the Richmond Theatre from her father, Basil Greene in 1986. She went on to acquire several key London theatres and her business portfolio now includes the Criterion Theatre in London’s West End, the Old Vic Theatre, Old Vic Productions plc, Greene Light Films Ltd, world renowned Jazz Club, Ronnie Scott’s, and two London restaurants: the Cheyne Walk Brasserie, and its sister restaurant The Waterloo Bar and Grill.
