M:Tech offers strategic legal and commercial advice and mentoring to early-stage tech businesses during their critical first stages of growth.

The M:Tech Programme

Bespoke legal mentoring and advice for early-stage tech companies.

Apply here

For selected companies, we offer general legal advice and guidance on day-to-day queries free of charge for up to six months. This might include reviewing key legal documents for your business (e.g. employment agreements, IP assignments, commercial contracts, IT services/SaaS agreements, licences, terms of business), acting as a sounding board or just talking through some of the issues and challenges facing your business from time to time.

You will be assigned a dedicated mentor who will be your first port of call and who can also direct you to other specialist lawyers within the business if and when you need them.

For any additional legal work you might require during the programme which is outside of the day-to-day (e.g. fundraising, share option schemes/employee incentives), we offer discounted rates.

We also provide free data and cyber security health checks for your business, the opportunity to link up with our MDRx team and are happy to make connections to Mishcon contacts.

Joining the programme

Ideally, businesses on the M:Tech programme should be:

  • Based in the UK and in the first three years of operation
  • Generating revenue, with at least one active client or pilot
  • Contemplating a significant fundraising within the next six to 12 months

If you'd like to be considered for the programme, please apply below, making sure to include your latest business plan. One of our team will then be in touch to follow up.

Workshops & Legal Surgeries/Office Hours

For a number of years M:Tech has enjoyed a very close relationship with Capital Enterprise, running bi-monthly legal surgeries and office hours for their huge network of exciting and innovative start-ups, founders and entrepreneurs. Sessions are held alternately online and in-person at their headquarters at IDEALondon

We are also delighted to be the legal partner for ConceptionX, one of the leading programmes in helping PhD students launch deeptech start-ups based on their innovative research. We will be supporting their latest cohort, their fifth, comprising 94 teams from 30 universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, King's, UCL and Queen Mary's.

M:Tech Talks

Conversations with entrepreneurs, founders and influencers in the early-stage ecosystem.

The agile nature of start-up businesses can be a blessing and a curse. Through a series of podcasts hosted by Partner and M:Tech lead Andrew Wolfin and featuring the founders of the companies on our M:Tech programme we will explore how they have confronted these challenges and discuss their strategies for the future.
