Tax Aware - Mishcon de Reya

While the substantial tax reforms of the 2024 Autumn Budget  are still fresh in mind, attention has already shifted to what this year’s Autumn Budget (expected on 26 November) may bring. In this context, we are thrilled to bring you our latest edition of Tax Aware (Issue 22), with insights on recent tax developments and future considerations.

In this Issue, we cover the following:

  • Why the UK's new four-year FIG Regime might not be as short as you initially thought.
  • How death in service benefits will be taxed in light of the tax changes to pensions.
  • An analysis of the use of discretion in EMI and CSOP Share Plans, and an opportunity with the new PISCES stock platform.
  • Lifetime trust planning options for entrepreneurs that could be used now while business property relief (BPR) remains unlimited.
  • The UK tax situs rules for crypto-assets, particularly for individuals not originally from the UK.
  • The significant privacy changes affecting the publicity of information on the Register of Overseas Entities (ROE).
  • An analysis of S/EIS PE requirement for overseas companies.

Finally, we are pleased to welcome back the return of the Tax Aware FAQ, answering the widely asked question of whether you need a Will.

Please do let us know if you'd like us to consider anything in particular for the next Tax Aware publication or in-person seminar.

For now, we hope you enjoy this Issue and thank you for your continued support and readership.
