Key Experience
- Part of the legal team representing a Jersey-based client in his appeal to the Privy Council from the Jersey Court of Appeal, in a matter relating to child maintenance and the definition of "parent".
- M v M [2010] EWHC 2817 (financial provision after overseas divorce).
- MAP v MFP [2015] WEHC 627 (Fam) - Representing the husband in a case with assets, including a very successful family business, of £25m. The wife sought an add-back of £1.5million in respect of the husband's spending over a two year period. Following a final hearing at the High Court, the Judge found that although the husband had overspent significantly, this was not done with the intention of reducing the wife's claim, and so would not be added back.
- Acting for a client in anticipation of and following the birth of their second child as a result of an overseas surrogacy agreement. We obtained a Parental Order on an expedited basis, having worked closely with our Immigration team who had secured a discretionary stay, enabling the child to enter and reside in England pending registration as a British national and issue of a British passport.
- IN v CH [2024] EWFC 233 - Acted for the husband who made a competing application against the wife for an order for sale in respect of the matrimonial home and a yacht. No beneficial interest was found and an order for sale was made (within financial remedy proceedings). The wife’s application to sell the yacht was unsuccessful as it belonged to a company, AB, who had not been joined to the proceedings.
