Daniel Goldsborough

Daniel is a partner in the Corporate department, with a wealth of experience in guiding clients through complex corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, business sales, joint ventures, fundraisings, and corporate restructures.

Daniel's clients include a variety of business types including business owners, equity investors and large corporates across a wide range of sectors but with a particular focus on the corporate and commercial aspects of corporate real estate transactions; financial technology, software and e-commerce; hospitality & retail and oil and mining.

In the Corporate real estate sector Daniel acts for some of the biggest real estate investment funds in the UK including Brookfield, Shaftesbury Capital, Delancey, PGIM Real Estate and Equites Investment Fund. More recently, in addition to his existing practice, Daniel has advised clients in the storage, distributions, and logistics sectors on sale and acquisitions, joint ventures but also more widely on commercial issues relevant to those businesses.

Daniel has a wealth of experience handling transactions both in the UK and cross border.

Daniel is also a mentor for the start-ups taking part in MDR Lab offering mentoring, guidance and legal advice for early-stage tech companies.

Key Experience

• Advising on the acquisition of Portswood Centre Ltd, which owned the freehold of the Portswood Centre in Southampton. The Buyer intends to develop the property into purpose built student accommodation.
• Brookfield: Advising on the £330m purchase of seven UK retail park sites from Hammerson plc.
• Shaftesbury Capital: Advising on its £75.1m acquisition of the Lothbury Covent Garden Unit Trust.
• Fusion Students: Acting on the £315 million sale to Lone Star of a 2,621-bed portfolio of student accommodation comprising two operational sites at Cardiff and Hatfield and two sites under construction at Sheffield and Swansea. One of 2021's largest PBSA deals, it was structured as a share purchase and asset purchase, with Fusion retained as developer on the construction sites.
• DC01: Advising on the sale of their South Mimms site to Equinix. The site is 85 acres and has a projected investment value of £3.9 billion. The deal marked a landmark moment for the UK’s digital and data infrastructure sector.
• Meadow: Advising Meadow on multiple joint venture arrangements with various property developers in respect of a number of assets in Meadow's property portfolio across the UK
• Advising a developer on its joint venture platform with a US private equity fund to acquire and develop student accommodation across multiple sites across the UK and Europe.
• Acting for Meadow on its purchase of assets on the business park in Worcester.
• Advising Cole Waterhouse on its joint venture with Domis in relation to their £200m development of over 1,000 residential homes in Leeds.
• Advising Meadow on its joint venture arrangements with LBS Properties relating to the acquisition of 1 Wood St, London EC2V 7WS.
• Taurus Investment Holdings: Advising this global PE real estate firm on three separate joint venture arrangements with senior debt and funding from the Housing Growth Partnership, including two with Cole Waterhouse and ongoing work to deliver a £260 million mixed-use scheme in Digbeth, Birmingham.
• Henley: Advising on the JV between Henley, Cheyne and Charles MacGregor to launch a new student accommodation venture to acquire quality and affordable housing in the UK and to build a portfolio worth around £300 million over a three-year period with Henley acting as the development manager.  
• Equites Property Fund: On the corporate acquisition and connected joint venture in respect of numerous sites in the UK to be developed into a new warehouse and distribution centres.
