Mishcon de Reya to support Oasis of Peace event at the House of Lords

Mishcon de Reya is supporting an event at The House of Lords tonight: 'Arabs and Jews refuse to be enemies', aimed at promoting peaceful relations between Arabs and Jews.  This event is hosted by Oasis of Peace - the English translation of the name of Neve Shalom (Hebrew) / Wahat al-Salam (Arabic).  Oasis of Peace was founded by Bruno Hussar, and is situated midway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. It is a community where Jewish and Palestinian Arab Israeli citizens have lived together in peace for the past 40 years.

The House of Lords reception will be hosted by The Lord Beecham and The Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon on Monday 16 March between 6.00pm and 8.00pm. There will be MPs attending the event, along with Haras Rafiq, Managing Director, Quilliam Foundation and Stephen Innes, Programme Manager, Council of Christian and Jews.

Michael Mitzman, Consultant at Mishcon de Reya, commented:

"Supporting the event 'Arabs and Jews refuse to be enemies' is a continuation of Mishcon de Reya's on-going work to promote positive Arab/Jewish relations. Our commitment to this cause dates back to our founder, Lord Mishcon, who played a pivotal role as a secret intermediary between Israel and Jordan during the 1980s, when his country house was used several times for private meetings between King Hussein and Shimon Peres, then the Israeli foreign minister."
