A new era for non-doms

Welcome to "a new era for non-doms," a comprehensive video series, exploring the recent changes to the non-domicile tax regime in the UK.

The seismic shift, introduced in March 2024 by Jeremy Hunt, the then chancellor, was implemented by the current Labour Government in April 2025. This series will provide clarity and insight into the new tax landscape, offering valuable guidance for those affected by the changes.

Charlie Sosna and Annie Bouch cover the foreign income and gains (FIG) regime.  Their short video examines the reforms following the abolition of the non-dom regime, highlighting the impact on individuals.

Annie Bouch and Hannah Dart discuss the availability of the Temporary Repatriation Facility (TRF) and how eligible individuals can use it to take advantage of a 3-year window in which low tax rates (12% - 15%) will be applied to designated pre-6 April 2025 income and gains.

Andrew Goldstone and Nicola Simmons talk about the availability of a rebasing election and how this might assist certain qualifying individuals to reduce the amount of UK capital gains tax payable on their non-UK assets.

Hannah Dart and Patrick Harney talk about the effects of the new FIG regime on US people living in the UK and the various issues they will have to contend with.

Katie Doyle and Moustapha Hammoud discuss the new FIG regime's impact on non-UK trustees and the various record-keeping obligations non-UK trustees will face.

Our experts can help you explore the intricacies of the FIG regime and make informed decisions in the new era. Whether you're a non-dom seeking to optimise your tax position or a professional advising clients, this series is your guide to understanding and adapting to the latest developments in UK tax law.
