Neil Baylis interviewed in The Times discussing how competition law could be an obstacle for green innovation.

Posted on 28 January 2021

Partner Neil Baylis was interviewed by The Times on competition law and why it could affect green innovation.

The article focuses on the UK turning greener by reducing plastic use and vehicle emissions, but recognises that competition law could prevent this from happening successfully due to the aims of that area of law being to protect consumer welfare and creating a competitive market.

"Neil Baylis, a Partner at Mishcon de Reya, told The Times 'policymakers and regulators have taken a too limited approach, which has measured “consumer welfare” in economic terms, focusing on price'."
