Mishcon de Reya Associate, Emma Woollcott, was last night formally commended for the active role she has played in making a difference in the LGBT community. Emma is a litigator in Mishcon Private.

Commenting on Emma's achievements in this area, Ramona Mehta, Partner in Mishcon Private and Head of the Reputation Protection Group, said: "Since joining the firm as a junior lawyer, Emma Woollcott has been open about her sexuality, acting as a role model in a firm where we foster authenticity and thrive on diversity. Emma donates significant amounts of time and energy to the LGBT community. She set up and runs Pink Law, a free legal advice service for LGBT people, in conjunction with Queen Mary University. Through Pink Law, Mishcon has taken on asylum appeals for those who face persecution due to their sexuality.

"Emma provided pro bono advice to Broken Rainbow, a LGBT domestic violence charity, ensuring lesbian experiences were represented in a government consultation on violence against women. She sat on the steering committee of the Gay Women's Network, providing career development and networking opportunities to LBT professional women and bringing positive change in the workplace. Emma was part of the core group which set up Mishcon's D&I Committee. She runs our internal Pride Network, which encourages internal networking and support, and business development activities. She has hosted events at the Firm, focusing on equal marriage, LGBT asylum, and lesbian entrepreneurs.
