We are delighted to launch the Mishcon Sports Law Academy for the academic year 2021/22. Over 1,750 participants from over 40 countries around the world took part last year and this academic year is shaping up to be even more exciting. This time, we will host six hybrid seminars starting with our first session on boxing - see below for more details.
Boxing in Britain is in its prime. In recent years, we have witnessed the meteoric rise of the likes of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, boxing's first ever $1 billion deal, and growing interest in the sport globally. At the same time, boxing has faced considerable controversy: from corruption and criticism of its fragmented governance structure to anti-doping violations and safety concerns.
In this interactive session each of our speakers, representing four corners of the boxing industry will deliver a manifesto on how to reform the sport.
Tom Murray, an Associate in our Sports Group, will be joined by Lawrence Okolie (WBO Cruiserweight World Champion), Shaun Palmer (Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Matchroom Boxing) and Will Harvey (Athlete Manager at 258 MGT, which is owned by Anthony Joshua).
Following a short discussion, participants will then be asked to vote on their preferred manifesto.
