In conversation with Chelsea Kwakye and Ore Ogunbiyi, authors of Taking Up Space, The Black Girl’s Manifesto for Change

DateTimeOnline

Chelsea Kwakye and Ore Ogunbiyi are the authors of Taking Up Space: The Black Girl's Manifesto for Change, an account of racism and the lack of diversity in the education system.

Chelsea and Ore met at an event for Black students just before they started at the University of Cambridge. This event would prepare them for the things that most students fear: finances, accommodation, making friends and excelling in their studies.

However, neither of them could have predicted the whirlwind that was Cambridge, especially as two young Black women.

In this session, Chelsea and Ore will discuss Taking Up Space and reflect on honest conversations with students past and present, going beyond the buzzwords of diversity and inclusion and exploring what those words truly mean for young Black girls today.
