Mishcon de Reya will allow all its staff and lawyers unlimited remote and flexible working going forward, as part of new guidance issued by the firm’s managing partner James Libson.
Staff across the business, including partners and non-fee earners, have been told that they can work whenever or wherever suits them without any firm quotas, subject to basic guiding principles.
The details were shared to all staff earlier in February in a message from Libson, seen by Law.com International. They apply firmwide to the firm’s London and Singapore operations.
“We don’t have to wait until we are not forced to work from home to think about flexibility. We know enough to commit now,” Libson told the firm.
“As long as the clients’ needs are met and your colleagues are not adversely affected, you will be trusted to be responsible and to deliver what is expected of you.”
According to the note, the new arrangements must be based around certain principles which include the need to organise working patterns around client needs, and work collaboratively.
