Families in Business (Mishcon Private)

Families in Business

The UK left the EU on 31 January 2020. A transition period, during which EU laws continue to apply in the UK, is due to end on 31 December 2020. The UK/EU Withdrawal Agreement sets out transitional arrangements and negotiations for the future UK/EU relationship are ongoing.

At Mishcon de Reya, much of the work we do involves acting for ultra-high net worth families, family offices and entrepreneurs. We are frequently called upon to sit alongside owners or principals of a family enterprise to guide and assist them in addressing the complex issues they face.

The team offer all the legal services a family business may need. We are experts in preserving, growing and transferring wealth between generations and supporting the family where there are business disputes. We are highly experienced in advising businesses on all their corporate needs, including corporate transformation whether by way of acquisitions, sales or reorganisations for mergers. Our legal advice and support also includes tax planning at each stage of the business and family life cycle. Our team in Singapore works with family businesses across South East Asia with expertise in cross border M&A transactions, joint ventures, financing transactions and debt restructurings.

Where family offices have networks, we can bring an overarching focus to the whole and add ‘global’ value at each stage with practical, commercial and real-world advice. We understand the connection between personal wealth, family relationships and businesses and tailor our advice in a bespoke way to suit each family we support.
