Michael is a Managing Associate in the Commercial Real Estate team.
He has experience across a broad range of real estate matters, including high value acquisitions and disposals as well as development projects, financing and letting transactions. A particular area of focus is advising on co-investment agreements and operational management structures, including real estate joint ventures, private equity investment and associated commercial contracts.
Michael has particular experience in relation to the alternative real estate sector including senior living, purpose built student accommodation, hotel and sports developments. He has acted for various stakeholders at different stages in the operational real estate cycle.
In addition, Michael has a keen interest in machine learning and the application of artificial intelligence technologies in the real estate sector.
Key Experience
- Represented a major leisure and holiday company on the multi-million pound sale of a stake in its business to two investment funds.
- Acted for a listed private equity investor on four PBSA student housing acquisitions, including international fund structures and amending existing management and operator agreements.
- Advised on acquisitions, disposals, development projects and hospitality infrastructure in relation to four EPL football clubs.
- Acted for a listed REIT on its ownership structures, acquisitions, JV arrangements and operator agreements in relation to its holdings in healthcare infrastructure and senior living facilities.
- Acted on behalf of two institutional landlords and one sports club in relation to over station developments and infrastructure protection provisions.
- Advised in relation to the development of a multi-billion pound entertainment resort and theme park.
- Represented an international fund on financing and note issuance in connection with investment in the food retail sector.
- Acted for a lender in relation to the financing of a luxury hotel and resort in Spain.
