Jun Wei Chua

Jun Wei is a Managing Associate in the Singapore Transactional team.

Jun Wei focuses on aviation leasing and finance. His practice covers all aspects of cross-border acquisition, sale, leasing, financing and asset-backed securitization of aircraft and engines. He has experience in negotiating finance-related loan, security and transaction documentation and has overseen and completed transactions for global lessors and lessees.

Jun Wei also has experience handling maritime transactions and has advised multiple global shipowner-operators as both buyer and seller on various vessel sale and purchase transactions.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

Key Experience

• Advised leading airlines, lessors and banks, including Jackson Square Aviation, Scoot, AirAsia, Lion Air, TEAM, ST Engineering, Keystone Holdings, Bocomm Leasing, Deutsche Bank, DVB Bank (now MUFG) and BNPP on numerous aircraft and engine leasing, financing and trading transactions.
• Advised ST Engineering on the world 's first A320 converted freighter delivery to its launch customer, Vaayu Group who placed the Aircraft on lease to freighter operator Pradhaan Air Express – Airline Economics Asia-Pacific Freighter Deal of the Year in the Aviation 100 Awards 2022.
• Advised a Singapore-based aircraft engine leasing company on:
  • the purchase, lease novation and share sale in respect of six Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft on lease to multiple airlines across Europe and the United States. The transaction involved negotiating both beneficial interest and metal sales; and
  • as borrower on multiple revolving credit facilities provided by major banks as lenders/financiers.
• Advised a global leasing company on the JOLCO re-financing of multiple aircraft assets on lease to various airlines across the United States, Europe and India with major banks acting as lenders/financiers.
• Advised a major leasing company on the portfolio sale and secured financing of 11 aircraft to a Singapore-based investment company, with eight of the aircraft held in a US trust, one aircraft in an Irish trust, and the remaining three aircraft as metal sales.
• Advised a major Japanese bank on the release and reassignment of various English law securities in respect of the lease of A320-232 aircraft.
• Advised multiple global shipowner-operators as both buyer and seller on various vessel sale and purchase transactions.
