Charlie Sosna, Head of International and Head of Private Wealth and Tax at Mishcon de Reya, has commented in The Telegraph on HMRC’s plans to increase scrutiny of the tax affairs of UK-linked billionaires.
The article examines HMRC’s proposed approach to wealthy compliance, under which ultra-high-net-worth individuals and their representatives would be offered a customer compliance manager and invited to voluntary discussions about their finances.
Charlie commented: “Clients are certainly asking questions about the letters that have already been received by billionaires and if there is more coming off the back of them.
“They are interested to know what other clients are doing and what HMRC’s approach would be if they don’t provide all the information requested or what they will do with any information they do provide.”
