Tom is Head of MDRxTECH. He has a deep understanding of a wide range of emerging technologies, their possible application and the legal and regulatory frameworks that apply to them.
Tom has experience advising public and private sector clients on the design, development and delivery of their emerging technology strategies and solutions. He works with some of the world's most innovative organisations and uses technology to revolutionise and transform their service offerings. As an English qualified lawyer, Tom is able to reassure his clients that compliance underpins all of their transformational undertakings.
Tom's practice is global in its outlook – over the past 18 months he has worked with clients in the UK, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. He is heavily involved in the emerging technology ecosystem: he is a part of the leadership team for the Blockchain working group of Tech London Advocates, a leading industry network of technology leaders, entrepreneurs and experts; he has addressed the EU Commission on the convergence of emerging technologies; he has lectured at UCL and the University of Cambridge on the legal and regulatory treatment of emerging technologies; and has mentored a number of early stage businesses through various accelerator programmes, including Conception X and StateZero Labs.
In addition to his role as Head of MDRxTECH, Tom drives a number of emerging technology initiatives within The MDR Group. He co-leads our dedicated Blockchain Group, acts as a mentor on the MDR LAB programme, sits on the M:Tech panel responsible for overseeing the Firm's M:Tech initiative, and is part of the Firm's Editorial Board responsible for coordinating and developing the firm's content creation and thought leadership publications. Tom is also Co-Editor of The Technology Platform, The MDR Group's dedicated technology blog.
Tom also advised a full range of start-up and early stage businesses on their fundraising and shareholder arrangements and general corporate needs.
