Personal Profile

David is a Partner in the Family Department with over thirty years' experience in all aspects of family law.

David is a Governor At Large of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL).  Recognised in both Chambers HNW Guide and The Legal 500, David is a highly experienced and well regarded family lawyer who has a particular interest in complex finance and property matters arising from the breakdown of relationships.

David has a wealth of experience in cases with an element of non-disclosure, making financial claims in England (where there is an overseas divorce) and taking steps in relation to the enforcement of Orders.  David regularly advises overseas clients on financial claims in both divorce and separation and his financial work often involves multiple overseas jurisdictions.

David has a wealth of experience in the tracing of assets and making use of Court procedures, not only to enforce disclosure of assets from third parties, but also in relation to the enforcement of Court Orders once made (in all cases, whether in England & Wales or overseas).  He believes he was one of the first practitioners to make use of the then new procedure to oblige third party entities to give documentary evidence of his opponents spouse's business dealings where that spouse, himself, refused to cooperate.

In addition to David's matrimonial practice, he has a particular interest in litigation funding and all costs issues arising from the work that he undertakes.  David undertook one of the first and leading cases whereby he secured an Order to ensure his client was able to have her legal fees paid for by her spouse.

In addition, David undertakes applications in relation to children – for example, where they are to live, to be educated and moves between countries.

David is a member of our multi-disciplinary Luxury Assets group which advises individuals and businesses on the buying, selling, structuring and protection of luxury assets, including motorcycles, classic cars, art and horses across the globe.  David is a co-founder (and now chairperson) of City Saddles, the equine interest group for professionals across London.

David is a Trustee of the PDSA charity and is also a member of The Development Board of The Brooke charity

David is recognised by Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500 and Spear's 500.
