Charlie Wright

Personal Profile

Charlie is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution department, specialising in civil fraud, injunctive relief, and commercial litigation.

He has experience of acting for individuals and corporate clients across a wide range of complex multi-jurisdictional disputes. Charlie's experience includes cases which have involved allegations of conspiracy, dishonesty, confidential information, data breaches, cyber-fraud, as well as partnership and sponsorship disputes. He has been involved in disputes and investigations across a number of overseas jurisdictions, including Europe, Asia and the Americas. 

Charlie is a member of the firm's Latin America & Iberia team, which services Spanish and Portuguese-speaking clients, and of the Lex Anglo-Brasil Association. As a member of the Non-Performing Loans team, Charlie is able to work with specialist local counsel around the world, including in the International Fraud Group, to coordinate litigation strategy and manage disputes across multiple jurisdictions, particularly on behalf of judgment creditors and banks enforcing non-performing loans.

Charlie is also a member of the firm's Social Mobility Committee and regularly contributes to initiatives for students from underprivileged backgrounds.

Key Experience

  • Advising a leading Formula One organisation on a potential dispute with a principal sponsor.
  • Acting for a commodities trader in relation to a claim under a cross-undertaking in damages resulting from a Worldwide Freezing Order, involving allegations of fraud.
  • Successfully obtaining an overseas arrest order on behalf of a commercial lender in respect of a high value vessel and acting in connected proceedings in the jurisdiction to repossess the same.
  • Advising a multi-jurisdictional education consultancy in respect of an internal investigation arising out of a potential cybersecurity breach.
  • Successfully obtaining a Norwich Pharmacal Order on behalf of a client in relation to the suspected misappropriation of ultra-high value motor vehicles.
  • Acting for the Administrators of London Capital & Finance PLC (assisting the Administrators investigate the collapse of LCF in circumstances where it owes creditors in excess of £230million).
