Welcome to the seventh edition of Inside Cambridge. It was a privilege to be invited to edit this edition and to reflect on the exciting developments happening at Mishcon Cambridge, as well as Oxford, London and beyond. Mishcon Cambridge comprises a team of talented and driven professionals who understand not only their sector, but this unique city. The events of the last quarter are a testament to just how much energy and vibrancy there is in Cambridge.

Included in this issue, we showcase:

  • David Cleevely, a driving force of the Cambridge tech cluster, who visited our Cambridge office to discuss his new book 'Serendipity: It Doesn't Happen by Accident', offering an insight into his fascinating journey in the city of Cambridge and its growth from a University city to an international hub of tech and innovation.
  • The Women of the Arc summit was held in our Cambridge office, bringing together founders, investors and leaders in their fields to share insight, knowledge and reflections on women in the UK innovation sector.
  • Homegrown Cambridge business CuspAI was supported by our very own Chris Keen and his emerging companies team on its $100million series A funding round and highlights the incredible level of expertise and service Mishcon is able to offer its clients in the innovation economy.
  • Gareth Dickson outlines how upcoming UK patent, trade mark and copyright developments will materially affect the regulatory environment for AI businesses in 2026.

As well as these spotlights, we showcase experts across the sectors at Mishcon providing insights and guidance on the latest developments in the law, both by way of article and interactive hubs and toolkits. In this issue you can find:

  • Our annual Fundraising report, digging deep into the market trends and highlights both externally and internally at Mishcon, within the innovation ecosystem.
  • the Non-Dom Hub - supporting clients through the changes to the non-dom regime;
  • the Employment Rights Act Hub, which provides valuable resources and guidance to support employers and employees to navigate the changes ushered in by the Employment Rights Act;
  • A guide to the Renters' Rights Act 2025

Mishcon Cambridge is truly an exciting place to be, we look forward to seeing many of you at our Cambridge Summer Drinks (details to be announced soon)! We hope you enjoy our latest issue.

Employment Rights Act

The Renters’ Rights Act (“the Act”) received Royal Assent on 27 October 2025 and will be implemented in a number of phases, as set out in the Government's recently published "roadmap". The Act will fundamentally overhaul the UK private rented sector, bringing several transformative changes that will reshape the relationship between residential landlords and tenants and deliver new and stronger protections for the vast majority of England's 11 million private renters.
