Inside Cambridge

Editor's note

Louise Moore

Welcome to the latest edition of Inside Cambridge.

This month’s round-up is a great example of the variety of work happening across the firm - and how Cambridge is playing a central role in it. From MDR Lab's alumni company Laurel securing $100 million in Series C funding, to reflections on Count Binface’s manifesto, we’re covering a lot of ground.

We’ve included practical insights too - like how to handle HMRC disputes, updates from our global HR training programme, and new resources for founders and General Counsel. And in this issue’s Cambridge Spotlight, we hear from my colleague and mentor Andrew Williamson about his journey into law and why he’s chosen to build his career here.

As always, we hope there’s something here that informs you.

Thanks for reading,
Louise Moore

Rural views on Count Binface's manifesto

The long read: the country house market in H1 2025

We have all heard similar comments from those in the English country house market this year: volumes are down; deals are taking longer; buyers are fussier; enquiries from US buyers are up. However, as those in the industry know, many deals happen off-market, and the disparity between certain pockets of the English countryside can be remarkable. We therefore asked some of the top country house agents for their views on the market in the first half of 2025.
