Tom is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution department with a practice spanning Group Actions, Commercial Litigation and Fraud. He has significant experience of high value, multi-jurisdictional, complex commercial disputes across a broad range of sectors, including telecoms, betting & gaming, oil & gas, sport, media and technology.
His practice encompasses both claimant and defendant work, and primarily involves breach of contract, negligence, fraud and/or breach of fiduciary duty claims. Tom has acted for large groups of individuals, high-net-worth individuals, sovereign wealth funds and investment banks, in addition to a variety of FTSE 100 and 250 companies and financial institutions.
Increasingly, Tom represents large groups of individual claimants advising and acting on damages based agreements and conditional fee arrangements in significant cross-border and domestic cases. He typically negotiates and structures traditional and hybrid funding packages, backed by various insurance products including ATE and CPI. This can be on either a portfolio or single case basis with one or multiple funders. He has developed excellent relationships across the litigation funding, insurance and broking markets.
Tom has a wealth of experience in acting on high profile, long running and hard-fought litigation, including for Ocado in its claims against T0day and Jonathan Faiman and for Telefonica against the administrators of Phones 4u Limited.
In addition to commercial dispute and group action work, Tom has significant experience of injunctive relief work and has acted for and against parties who have either obtained or been subject to freezing orders and various types of search orders, including those which also encompass preservation, imaging and delivery up.
