Paul McLoughlin is a Partner in the firm’s debt finance and restructuring teams. He has a broad practice covering debt finance, real estate finance, restructuring, insolvency, accelerated M&A (acquisitions and disposals), debt / equity swaps, dispute resolution and the acquisition and disposal of debt instruments.
He regularly advises boards, management teams, investors, private credit and institutional creditors, insolvency practitioners, debtors and other stakeholders on evaluating complex legal issues and commercial options, shaping strategy, and navigating critical decisions. He has a specific interest in dealing with complex intercreditor issues, fiduciary obligations, valuation issues, contingency planning, and the use of statutory procedures and schemes to resolve complex intercreditor issues. Paul is noted for his experience in leading complex negotiations, and where necessary, the use of litigation and mediation to resolve disputes. He regularly advises across multiple jurisdictions and in multiple sectors including regulated and non-regulated sectors, real estate, hotels, retail, leisure, industrials, manufacturing, projects, and infrastructure.

Paul also serves as a board member and trustee for the St Bride Foundation and sits on its Finance Committee, contributing legal and commercial experience to the board's oversight of financial sustainability, risk, governance and strategy, in supporting the Foundation's charitable objectives. He has a particular interest in corporate governance, the charity sector, and the fiduciary and compliance obligations of executives, non-executives, officers, managers, and trustees.
Paul is a member of INSOL International, R3 (the Association of Business Recovery Professionals) and the Insolvency Lawyers Association.
