Lauren Marlow, Associate at Mishcon de Reya, provided insight to The Telegraph on the practical challenges involved in estate administration.

She highlighted the delays that can arise in cases where there is no will, and the additional responsibilities placed on personal representatives during that period.

“Where there’s no will, personal representatives must wait until letters of administration are issued, which can delay the process. The personal representatives must also ensure appropriate contents insurance is in place while the possessions remain within their control,” Lauren said.

Lauren also pointed to the importance of carefully managing estate assets while legal authority is being obtained, particularly where property and valuable possessions are involved.
