Alexander is a Partner and Head of Mishcon Purpose.
He advises on matters at the intersection of disputes, governance, sustainability and public policy, particularly where legal questions sit alongside wider commercial, societal and geopolitical considerations. He is regularly sought out to advise businesses, families, philanthropists and institutions facing complex legal, strategic and reputational challenges.
A seasoned litigator, Alexander has particular expertise in the resolution of complex multi-jurisdictional disputes, often involving significant reputational and public affairs considerations. As a trustee and advisor, his long-term preoccupation has been balancing the imperatives of environmental conservation and human development.
Alongside his legal practice, Alexander has worked with governments, international organisations and business leaders on issues including biodiversity, natural capital and sustainable development, and has held leadership roles across a number of international conservation initiatives. He was the founding CEO of the charity Stop Ivory and served as head of the Secretariat to the inter-governmental Elephant Protection Initiative.
Alexander serves as Chair of Tusk Trust and sits on the advisory board of the Athens Democracy Forum. In 2018, the Zoological Society of London named him Conservationist of the Year in recognition of his work supporting African governments in combating the illegal ivory trade and advancing elephant conservation.
In 2026, he was appointed OBE for services to global conservation.
