Antonia Felix and Emma Willing in The Dura Society on surrogate parenting myths and misconceptions in the UK

Posted on 9 December 2021

Antonia Felix and Emma Willing were featured in The Dura Society, a platform and network which helps women harness healthy financial habits and personal wealth, discussing the legalities and circumstances surrounding surrogacy in the UK today.

Surrogacy is increasingly becoming a popular route to parenthood in the UK. The article focuses on busting the myths and misconceptions on surrogate parenting, covering central topics including international recognition of Pre-Birth and Parental Orders; surrogacy for profit; the rights of the surrogate to the child; and the need for genetic links.

Antonia and Emma compare the position in the USA, where “where the regulatory framework surrounding surrogacy is less restrictive and there are a greater number of available surrogates.” They also highlight how many disputes are handled on a case-by-case basis, and that “the child's welfare will be the Court's paramount consideration.”

The mission behind The Dura Society aligns closely with the work of Mishcon de Reya’s Women in Wealth, an initiative that supports female holders of private wealth and their advisers.
