Kirwin is a Managing Associate in the Intellectual Property group in the Innovation department. She is a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney and a Unified Patent Court (UPC) representative.
Her work focuses primarily on preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the fields of software and AI, health tech, and Fintech. Her experience also spans across a wide range of sectors including telecommunications, aerospace engineering, cryptography (e.g. blockchain), semiconductors, autonomous vehicles, robotics, power grid control systems, and consumer electronics. She routinely advises on matters such as freedom-to-operate analysis and validity assessments.
Kirwin is recognised for delivering strategic, commercially astute advice to a wide-ranging client base, ranging from start-ups to global corporations and academic institutions, and for guiding clients through complex, multi-jurisdictional filing strategies. Her fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese supports her work advising clients and collaborating with attorneys across Asia. Kirwin has contributed to numerous articles on IP practice and case law developments in the region and has shared her expertise as a speaker at events in China.
Kirwin is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and a member of the European of the European Patent Institute.
