Annabel Getley

Personal Profile

Annabel is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution department. She specialises in high value, complex and cross-border disputes with a focus on civil fraud, investigations and international asset recovery.   

She acts for both corporate and individual clients in a range of matters which involve misappropriation of funds, allegations of dishonesty, conspiracy and breaches of fiduciary duties. These disputes are often complex and multijurisdictional in nature.

Annabel has experience of obtaining a variety of High Court injunctions, including worldwide freezing orders, computer imaging orders, delivery up orders, passport seizure orders, and third party disclosure orders, alongside other asset recovery techniques.

Key Experience

  • Acting for China Evergrande Group (in liquidation) in its $7.7 billion claim against its shareholders and others, involving multijurisdictional breach of fiduciary duty and proprietary proceedings, freezing orders in Hong Kong and England, and a passport seizure order in England.
  • Acting for a major European bank in complex fraud claims involving non-performing loans of approximately €90 million, with claims before the courts in the Cayman Islands, Malta, Canada, and in arbitration.
  • Acting for the victims of cyber-attacks to obtain non-disclosure and delivery-up orders in relation to stolen confidential information.
  • Acting in a multi-billion pound dispute for high net-worth individuals in a highly contested and complex global fraud and estate dispute. 
  • Advising companies in relation to the enforcement of arbitration awards and recovery of judgment debts.
  • Representing White Lantern Film (Britannica) Limited and SMC Speciality Finance LLC in their dispute with actress Eva Green in relation to the collapse of the film 'A Patriot'.
  • Obtaining imaging and passport orders against a former director and CEO in a matter involving breach of fiduciary duty.  
  • Obtaining third party disclosure orders from banks to assist in locating assets and tracing wrongdoers. 
  • Acting for beneficiaries in a complex high value multi-jurisdictional trust dispute.
