Tom Grogan has spoken on a CW (formerly Cambridge Wireless) webinar on how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected digital transformation, particularly in the healthcare sector. Tom then joined a panel chaired by Siddhi Trivedi (Founder, Beowulf Proof Works and alongside Leila Ali (Founder, Digital Health Cambridge), Chris Marshall (NIHR Innovation Observatory), and Barry O'Reilly (Obstetrician/Gynaecologist, University College Cork)
In his talk, Tom looked at the growing investment in HealthTech and the impact that that recent pandemic has had on their use. He discussed the great work being done across a full range of industry players, from large multinational corporations and public health bodies, to exciting early stage companies – two of which, LogMyCare and Infinity Health formed part of our M:Tech initiative, which offers strategic, legal and commercial advice and mentoring to young businesses during the critical early stages of their growth.
He also discussed the challenges associated with designing and implementing digital transformation projects in highly regulated industries. He emphasised the importance of integrating legal and regulatory expertise into every stage of digital transformation processes to identify and mitigate issues and ensure compliance by design. He also stressed the importance of effective regulation and guidance from public sector bodies, in order to foster innovation while maintaining public trust.
