The real estate industry will be “fined into oblivion” and find itself “uninvestible” if it does not become low- or zero-carbon. This was the stark warning from Brendan Wallace, co-founder of proptech investor Fifth Wall, during a Mishcon de Reya panel debate on sustainability and the cities of the future chaired by Property Week editor Liz Hamson.
The industry needs to pick up the pace if it is to rise to the climate challenge, said the rest of the panel, which comprised Professor Carlos Moreno, associate professor at the Sorbonne in Paris; Argent partner André Gibbs; and Amanda Levete, founder and principal of architect AL_A.
