Mishcon de Reya features in The Lawyer's Top 20 Cases of 2021

Mishcon has featured in The Lawyer's Top 20 Cases of 2021, the annual compilation of the leading cases of the forthcoming year. Partner Derval Walsh is instructed by the UK's longest established currency debt management firm The ECU Group Plc in their market manipulation claim against HSBC. ECU Group alleges that traders on HSBC's FX desk engaged in front running trades and misused confidential information between 2004 and 2006, causing artificial movement of prices of currency pairs and millions of pounds worth of losses to ECU and its clients. The ECU Group also alleges that HSBC illegitimately charged ECU and its clients fees in the form of undisclosed mark-ups to the rates on the completed FX orders. The case is due to be heard in the High Court in June for eight weeks.
