A complete solution to AI governance for builders and adopters

AI is increasingly a driving force and a disruptor, reshaping industries and redefining strategies worldwide. Governments and regulators across the globe are responding – from the EU’s landmark AI Act to the UK’s pro-innovation, principles-based framework, to rapidly developing regulatory approaches across the US, Asia-Pacific, Canada and beyond. Navigating this fast-evolving, multi-jurisdictional landscape while seizing the very real commercial opportunities that AI presents has never been more important – or more complex.

At Mishcon de Reya, our AI Compliance by Design approach is built for innovators bringing an AI product to market through our suite of products designed to unlock opportunities. It’s designed to bring the necessary safeguards and critical thinking to your team as they leverage AI to develop next-generation solutions.

We have delivered these through a framework of solutions for clients across a wide range of sectors, including betting and gaming, financial services, technology, media and entertainment, and professional services.

Practical training designed to enhance AI literacy, unlock opportunities and mitigate risks associated with AI

Regulators around the world are increasingly requiring businesses to ensure their teams understand the AI systems they work with. The EU AI Act – the global high watermark for AI regulation – requires deployers of AI systems to implement measures ensuring that personnel possess adequate AI literacy. Similar expectations are emerging across other jurisdictions, reflecting a global shift towards responsible, informed AI use. Our training is designed to meet the most demanding of those standards, while remaining directly applicable whatever your regulatory context.

We equip your people with the skills and knowledge needed to use AI systems responsibly, compliantly and confidently.

During the training session, we explore:

  • What is AI literacy? The definition and importance of AI literacy, including the EU AI Act’s requirements and parallel expectations emerging across global regulatory frameworks.
  • Who does the obligation apply to? Measures to ensure a sufficient level of AI literacy of staff, contractors and service providers, reflecting the expectations of the EU AI Act and equivalent frameworks in other jurisdictions.
  • How can you comply? Protocols and guidelines for safe and effective use of AI technologies, and measures to apply during the use of AI systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
  • What are the AI literacy requirements? General understanding of AI within organisations, the roles of providers and deployers, and risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Real-world examples: Practical demonstrations of how to integrate AI literacy into your organisation, tailored to your sector and specific teams.
Format

60-minute session including a 15-minute Q&A. Delivered in-person or virtually. Attendance is unlimited – suitable for company-wide roll-out. Alternatively, we have shorted pre-recorded “off the shelf” training videos which can form part of your firm wide training and is compatible with your LMS. Available on a fixed fee basis; please contact us for details.

Deep dive workshop

A structured, bespoke workshop that takes you from AI ambition to compliant AI implementation – with a clear, prioritised action plan.

Our deep dive workshop is designed for organisations that want to explore a specific opportunity for AI application and need expert guidance on making it work compliantly. This is designed for businesses looking to implement AI into their internal operations – for example, rolling out Generative AI as part of your customer journey or an internal workflow.

We guide you through the specific compliance issues to consider and practical mitigation steps to take, with a focus on IP, data protection and AI regulation across the jurisdictions relevant to your business.

Our workshop approach

1. Preparation

We prepare for the workshop by understanding your requirements at a high level and create a specific questionnaire to get a greater level of detail. All responses inform the content and structure of the workshop.

2. Workshop

We create a bespoke workshop structure and utilise the key items identified in the preparation phase. The workshop typically lasts 90 minutes. We recommend conducting it face-to-face, though remote sessions are available. The session produces a priority list of compliance items to work through over a 0 to 6 month period.

3. Recommendations

Following the workshop, we produce an action plan summarising and prioritising the output of the workshop and our recommendations for how to compliantly implement AI into your business.

A clear, repeatable process for evaluating new AI tools and use cases – managing legal and regulatory risk, and demonstrating good governance to stakeholders, critical to businesses managing internal AI adoption.

Our AI Governance Framework service delivers three core outcomes:

  • Go / no-go decision framework: A framework for making go/no-go decisions on new AI tools and use cases quickly and consistently, without creating unnecessary bottlenecks. This gives your business the agility to move at pace while remaining in control.
  • Pragmatic AI policies: Developing pragmatic AI policies which work for the business – not just legal compliance exercises, but genuinely useful internal frameworks that guide responsible AI use across teams and functions.
  • AI impact assessments: Drafting AI impact assessments, particularly for high-risk AI tools and use cases – a requirement under the EU AI Act and increasingly expected under regulatory frameworks globally as a hallmark of responsible, accountable AI governance.

How we approach AI governance

Our use case assessment framework

Our AI Governance Framework is anchored in a structured use case assessment that takes a business through five key areas of evaluation: regulatory risk, data risk, technical and operational readinessm, contractual protections and liability and exposure.

This provides organisations with a practical and manageable approach to ensure decisions can be take confidently and are properly documented and defensible.

An effective AI governance framework is not just about legal compliance. It provides:

  • Agility without risk: enabling teams to move fast on AI adoption without creating liability or compliance gaps.
  • Stakeholder/future investor and buyer confidence: demonstrating strong AI accountability and governance.
  • Regulatory readiness: positioning the business ahead of evolving AI regulation globally, including the EU AI Act, UK frameworks and the fast-developing international regulatory environment.
  • Cultural alignment: embedding responsible AI use into business operations, not just policy documents.

Equip your organisation with the knowledge of how to use AI safely in your organisation, meeting key regulatory requirements.
