Personal Profile

Kristie is an Associate specialising in contentious and non-contentious private client and matrimonial matters. She also has experience in handling cross-border disputes, and has handled a broad range of cases spanning criminal and civil litigation, commercial disputes, and arbitration.

Kristie leverages her extensive litigation background to advise private clients with strategic insight and put her in a good position to develop a bespoke solution for each client.

Kristie also advises clients on all aspects of matrimonial law, including divorce, separation, children’s issues, ancillary relief, maintenance and settlements.  She has hands-on experience working with a wide range of clients, ranging from professionals to entrepreneurs. 

Kristie is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Key Experience

  • Acted for the Respondent Father in defending the return of child and applying for interim custody, and subsequent applications for variation of interim care and control. See: NI v. TCHK [2023] HKFC 184.
  • Represented the Respondent Wife in successfully opposing the Petitioner Husband’s application to amend his divorce petition. The application, which sought to exclude the parties’ child from the proceedings on grounds of alleged non-paternity, was dismissed in its entirety. 
  • Acted for the Petitioner Husband in a contested divorce. Successfully negotiated and secured a favourable out-of-court settlement. 
  • Acted for a PRC individual to apply for leave to appeal in a cross-border matrimonial dispute. See: FCMC 8529/2021. 
  • Advised the executor on estate administration and the removal of the current executor. Subsequently represented two executors in defending an originating summons brought by a co-executor seeking the removal of the entire executors. 
  • Acted for a PRC state-owned entity (1st Defendant; 1st Appellant) in Court of Appeal and Court of Final Appeal relating to Quistclose trusts in intra-group context and succeeded in the Court of Final Appeal in setting aside the garnishee order, which has later become a landmark case. See: China Life Trustees Limited v. China Energy Reserve and Chemicals Group Overseas Company Limited & China Energy Reserve and Chemicals Group Company Limited [2024] HKCFA 15. 
  • Represented a client in an ICAC investigation concerning allegations of money laundering and making a false declaration of interests, provided legal advice throughout the investigation process, including on case strategy and on the client's rights and positions during formal statement-taking interviews. Subsequently acted for the same client in a related criminal investigation by Hong Kong Police Force concerning allegation of access to computer with criminal or dishonest intent.
  • Advised the client on contesting the validity of Will.
  • Advised a high-net-worth (HNW) PRC individual/family on asset protection and trust issues.
  • Advised HNW clients on pre-nuptial agreements.
