Caitlin Moreland

Caitlin is an Associate in the Reputation Protection and Crisis Management team in the Mishcon Private department.

She is experienced in assisting clients on a range of contentious matters including defamation, privacy, harassment and data protection. She has worked on sensitive matters involving the publication of private information, reputational attacks made online and issues relating to freedom of expression and human rights. Her clients include companies, HNWIs, charities, individuals, politicians, campaign organisations and publishers. Caitlin has experience in both litigation and alternative dispute resolution, including mediations.

Before qualifying and joining the team at Mishcon de Reya, Caitlin trained in media, employment and equality law. She completed the SQE and qualified as a solicitor in March 2024.

Key Experience

• Successfully defending a libel claim involving an allegation of historic sexual assault, establishing the public interest defence for victims of sexual assault who share their experience.
• Advising a campaigning organisation on risks in defamation law of a brand marketing plan.
• Working on matters relating to data breaches in the course of family law proceedings.
• Defending a misuse of private information and breach of confidence claim brought against a whistleblower.
• Assisting on cases involving the publication of client 's private information in newspapers and on social media.
• Assisting an investigative litigation project into mobile phone privacy.
• Working on contentious and non-contentious employment matters including settlement agreements and issues relating to discrimination, harassment and other misconduct in the workplace.
• Training in a specialised practice relating to cases of discrimination, harassment, sexual violence and negligence in higher education.
