A team of charities, donors and pro bono supporters have worked together to bring Ukrainian teacher Olena Kurylo to the UK for urgent surgery to save her eyesight.
In February 2022, Olena was blinded during a Russian missile attack in Kharkiv during Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Mishcon de Reya lawyers helped secure a visa for Olena to enable her to travel to the UK for specialised surgery at the Centre for Sight.
Hannah Barnett, Partner at Mishcon de Reya said: "We are delighted to have provided pro bono assistance to Olena to secure her visa. Given the urgent nature of the situation and the specialist care she requires, we were elated to achieve a positive outcome in such a short space of time. It has been an honour to support Olena and make a difference to her future and we wish her all the best for her upcoming surgery."
