Only a few weeks after our last issue, as the Government scrapped the remaining COVID-19 isolation rules, Russia invaded Ukraine. In the ensuing weeks, there were new risks to address, new sanctions regimes and new laws to tackle corruption. The changing economic and political landscape has caused us all to reflect on how to continue to realise opportunities and innovate whilst mitigating these risks and staying ahead of emerging regulation. I hope in this issue you will find something to inspire and something to help.

Abstract architecture

Overseas entities owning UK property: act now to avoid missing 31 January deadline

The UK's "Register of Overseas Entities" launched on 1 August 2022. In the Government's words, the rationale for the new register is to require "anonymous foreign owners of UK property to reveal their real identities to ensure criminals cannot hide behind secretive chains of shell companies, setting a global standard for transparency."
