Investigations and intelligence updates

Editor's note

Welcome to the October edition of the Investigations and intelligence updates.

This month’s stories spotlight how political volatility, digital harassment and evolving legal frameworks are reshaping risk exposure.

In Afghanistan, renewed clashes with Pakistan and shifting alliances with India and the UAE signal regional instability with global implications. In the UK, a new legal review into stalking laws highlights the rising threat posed by fixated individuals - especially online. And in America, a surge in political violence underscores deepening polarisation and the reputational and security risks it brings.

Each story reflects a growing convergence between geopolitics, personal security, and operational resilience - demanding sharper focus from clients and advisers alike.

Legal review targets online stalking and harassment

A major independent review of the United Kingdom’s stalking laws was announced on 22 October 2025. Led by Richard Wright KC, the review aims to assess whether current laws are effective in addressing the behaviour of fixated individuals, especially when enabled or amplified by modern digital technologies.
