Mishcon de Reya’s Corporate team has advised Backgrid, a global provider of celebrity news and photography, on its sale to creative content licensing company Shutterstock.
The acquisition will give Backgrid and Shutterstock customers access to the combined power of their content libraries of editorial and archival content, allowing the enlarged group to expand its archive with Backgrid’s 30 million+ images and videos across celebrity, red carpet and live events. The transaction will also add more than 1,400 contributors to its global photographer network.
