Online Safety Act: What you need to know about Illegal Content Risk Assessments

As of 16 March 2025, all platforms, sites, and apps in scope of Part 3 of the UK's Online Safety Act 2023 (OSA) must assess the risks posed on and by their service that are associated with Priority Offences (as defined in the OSA) and other illegal content by completing an Illegal Content Risk Assessment (ICRA). The completion of an ICRA is a separate duty from the duties to complete a Children's Access Assessment (CAA) and a Children's Risk Assessment (CRA).

MDR Lab alumni company Laurel secures $100 million in Series C funding

Laurel, formerly known as Time by Ping, an AI-Time company and a 2017 alumnus of Mishcon de Reya's MDR Lab, has announced its $100 million Series C funding round. The investment was led by IVP, with participation from Google Ventures, 01.a, Rahul Mehta (Managing Partner at DST Global), DST Global, Alexis Ohanian, and returning investors ACME and Anthos.

The recent Supreme Court decision in Bilta (UK) Ltd (in liquidation) and others v Tradition Financial Services Ltd [2025] UKSC 18 marks a significant moment in the interpretation of fraudulent trading under section 213 of the Insolvency Act 1986. The judgment expands the scope of section 213, affirming that liability for fraudulent trading is not confined to those in managerial roles within the insolvent company. Instead, it can extend to any party knowingly participating in the company's fraudulent business.
