Junior Lawyers’ Programme: Compliance risks – systems, controls and third parties

When: Wednesday 26 January 2022Time: 12:00 - 13:00 GMT

The growth in compliance-based regulation is set to continue for UK corporates in the coming years, with the likely expansion of economic crime legislation, together with an increasing focus on the importance of ESG concerns.

This session will look at the risks posed by compliance failures, together with a review of the key measures that can be put in place to ensure a company may be protected, drawing on official guidance and lessons from several recent high-profile cases over the past decade.

The session will also look specifically at the risks posed by supply chains and other third-party relationships, a scenario whereby, absent of the proper systems and controls, a third-party may expose a company to significant reputational damage, or even trigger regulatory or criminal liability.
