The Academy welcomes Ira Nadel, one of the world's leading Jewish biographers. Ira has recently published a biography on Philip Roth where he traces the psychological and artistic origins of Roth's creative life.
Ira will be interviewed by Anthony Julius, Deputy Chairman at Mishcon de Reya. Roth described Anthony's book Trials of the Diaspora as "an essential history".
Ira is a Professor Emeritus of English at the University of British Columbia and his books include Joyce and the Jews, Biography: Fiction, Fact & Form, along with biographies of Leonard Cohen, Tom Stoppard, and David Mamet.
Anthony and Ira will discuss Ira's biography subjects, his approach to research and what we can learn from the lives and stories he documents. This live session will be held virtually on Zoom.
