Mishcon de Reya's Purpose team together with Cornerstone Barristers co-host Climate Litigation lessons from around the globe, a series for 2025, an engaging and forward-looking programme bringing together leading legal experts from across jurisdictions to explore groundbreaking climate litigation cases, the evolving role of courts in tackling climate change, and the identification of potential new claims.
This series will run across seven months and will include webinars spotlighting key cases from Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. It will culminate in a final session - Climate Litigation Lessons from Brazil - delivered in person and livestreamed during New York Climate Week (21 - 28 September 2025).
This special event is co-hosted with Mishcon Purpose’s climate litigation team and co-organised by renowned climate law experts Joana Setzer (Grantham Research Institute, LSE) and Maria Antonia Tigre (Sabin Center, Columbia University).
The first event in this series is Climate Litigation: Lessons from South Africa taking place on 17 July. The speakers are Lazola Kati (Fossil Ad Ban Co-Ordinator at Fossil Free SA), Wandisa Phama (Executive Director of the Centre for Environmental Rights), Adv Ruth Kruger (Advocate practicing at Ruth Kruger Thulamela Chambers, Johannesburg) and Adv Chris McConnachie (Advocate at Maisels Chambers, Johannesburg).
