Sam is an Associate in the Private Commercial Litigation team, specialising in commercial litigation, director and shareholder disputes, and civil fraud.

Sam has experience of advising individuals and corporate clients across a wide range of high value, and often multi-jurisdictional disputes. He is developing a practice acting for international and domestic corporates, individual shareholders/directors, entrepreneurs, and high net worth individuals in relation to various legal issues and disputes. Sam's work often engages issues of civil fraud, unfair prejudice of shareholders’ interests, breaches of directors’ duties, breaches of shareholders’ agreements and joint venture agreements, and breaches of confidence and fiduciary duty.

Sam trained at the firm and also has experience in politics and law, judicial review, and public inquests. He is a member of the London Solicitors Litigation Association.

Key Experience

  • Acting for a former Georgian politician defending substantial fraud claims of dishonest assistance, conspiracy, and intimidation arising from alleged fraud in the Georgian tobacco market.
  • Acting for an individual and an associated company in a claim against an Italian digital advertising company concerning the dilution and cancellation of shares prior to its merger with a UK company.
  • Advising a shareholder of a media-related business in regard to threatened and existing litigation, the value of which is estimated to be £50 million - £100 million.
  • Advising a HNW individual in relation to multi-jurisdictional civil fraud claims involving allegations of unlawful means conspiracy.
  • Acting for an individual and an associated company in a claim against a former business partner for breach of a joint venture agreement concerning the development of a high-end restaurant in London and an investment agreement for the acquisition and development of prime London real estate.
  • Advising an individual shareholder in respect of claims in the tort of deceit arising from their shareholding in an international beer company.
  • Acted for a global retail company in relation to the contentious removal of a CEO following allegations of serious misconduct.
  • Acted for an individual and associated companies in respect of a dispute in relation to the distribution of a judgment award and the enforceability of a litigation funding agreement with a combined value in excess of $125 million.
  • Acted for an individual in respect of a coronial investigation and inquest into the death of a family member.
  • Acted for an individual defending an SFO investigation into overseas bribery and corruption offences.
