Marianne is a Partner in Mishcon Private and a private client lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience advising families and their businesses based mainly in the Middle East on a variety of concerns, with a common theme of governance.
Her clients are multinational and multi-generational and she is often the first port of call for their private offices and trustees.
Marianne advises on the full range of legal and practical complexities and conflicts that arise when personal, business and trust assets are shared by more than one generation.
She often advises on how best to incorporate Shari'a in private wealth structuring, the preparation of family charters and implementation of appropriate governance where family business and the stewardship of wealth intersect.
She has practical experience of how banks and professional trustees operate: she worked as a professional trustee first within Lombard Odier private bank (in Bermuda, working also in Geneva and London) and then at Kleinwort Benson, in London. This adds a dimension of pragmatism to Marianne's advice which is particularly apposite in the Middle East market.
