Jessie Bridgett

Jessie is a Legal Director in Mishcon Private. She advises individuals and their businesses on a wide variety of disputes include claims for fraud, breach of trust, professional negligence and breach of contract.  Jessie often advises clients involved in complex, multi-jurisdictional and multi-party disputes which require a creative and strategic approach.

Jessie also advises clients on defamation, misuse of private information and data protection.

Jessie is a student supervisor at the Queen Mary University Legal Advice Centre “Law for the Arts” where she supervises undergraduate law students advising members of the public on legal issues relating to the arts. In 2017 she was nominated supervisor of the year. Jessie also assists with the firm’s SPITE project - a pro bono partnership with Queen Mary University which provides advice to the victims of revenge porn. She is a committed volunteer for the charity Inspiring the Future and regularly visits secondary schools to talk to students about her career.

Key Experience

• Settling a claim on behalf of a family based in Africa against three individuals and two companies for deceit, misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty and dishonest assistance and unlawful means conspiracy in relation to the sale of shares in a property company in the UK.
• Acting for two companies that had been the victims of property fraud in a claim against the fraudsters ' solicitors for breach of solicitor's undertakings, breach of warranty of authority and negligence. Involved obtaining Norwich Pharmacal relief in order to ascertain the ultimate destination of the funds.
• Defending an UHNW individual in civil fraud proceedings worth $380m, resulting in a strike-out of the claim and discharge of a worldwide freezing order.
• Acting for two individuals defending an application against them under s.51 of the Senior Courts Act 1981 that they should to be personally liable for costs orders which were awarded against their partnership.
• Acting for a company in a professional negligence claim against a firm of accountants in regards to VAT advice on the sale of three properties.
• Acting for an individual in his capacity as a former director and shareholder of a public company in a claim against company directors for unlawful means conspiracy.
• Acting for an individual in a successful High Court application to set aside service of proceedings on him out of the jurisdiction regarding a claim for damages under a Memorandum of Understanding.
