Welcome to the June 2022 edition of Employment Matters: our round-up of the latest developments in employment law and key issues affecting employers and HR professionals.

We start by discussing issues arising from two major publications in the EDI sphere. The first is the policy paper, Inclusive Britain, which sets out the Government's strategy to improve (among other things) racial equality and fairness in the workplace. Notably, this includes ethnicity pay gap reporting but on a voluntary basis only. The second is the Fawcett Society's recent report, Menopause and the Workplace, and we explain what employers can do to support staff experiencing the menopause.

Employers are now looking to support those who suffer baby or pregnancy loss, or who undergo fertility treatment, We consider the practical issues for employers to bear in mind when developing policies to provide such support.

Continuing with the theme of promoting inclusivity, our Immigration Team discuss the new High Potential Individual ("HPI") visa, which gives employers a new route to attracting top talent from around the world without requiring sponsorship.

Although the football season is over for now, we look at when Premier League players might be given the boot for their off-the-field behaviour.

Our final two articles are must-reads for employers given the current state of the job market. We examine the Court of Appeal's decision in Kocur v Angard Staffing Solutions Ltd & another on the (limited) right of agency workers to be informed of job vacancies with their hirer. We also set out our top tips for employers who find themselves in the unenviable position of having to defend against an employee team move.
